ARCHIPELAGO 2 ~ James Wolfe

The installation presents the appearance of a displaced cargo adrift on a sea of concrete.

Metal barrels usually associated with the shipment of chemicals, emerge from the concrete to present a dystopian Zen garden in a post-industrial twilight.

Neuroplasticity ~ chaussette b.

Neuroplasticity is the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganization. These changes range from individual neuron pathways making new connections, to systematic adjustments like cortical remapping. In case of chronic pain, a dozen of brain zones start to make neuronal circuits to treat the pain instead of treating what they are supposed to There is one particular zone, the posterior cingulate cortex, a brain zone which activates during visual tasks when some form of incentive is involved, essentially functioning as a neural interface between motivation-related areas and top-down control of visual attention. In case of chronic pain, 15% of this zone changes role, and starts to treat pain instead of treating its usual functions. The artist who suffers from chronic shoulder pain wants to train her brain to reshape it in a normal way. For that she daily trains her brain to visualise her cortex singular posterior instead of treating the pain in order to break the inadequate neuronal connexions . She is currently building several brain zones, one is the cortex singular posterior, seeable in her studio and this one is the olfactory bulb This art installation is the reconstitution of the neurones present in her olfactory bulb, made with old earplug, dried lychee, paint brush, cat hairs... Each neurone has a different smell as well

chaussette b. is a fictitious name of a plastician artist born in 1978 in France. She currently works and lives in Hong Kong. After working in the retail industry in Paris and Hong Kong for 15 years, she decided to dig out all the things she never had the time to explore. She came up with a long list of all the interests she wanted to try out, driving a truck, learning carpentry, painting, sewing leather... This exploration process led her by accident to photography in 2016; and then to paintography , a mix of photographs and painting, in 2017 Since then, she has never stopped using her camera and decided to let the accidents occurs in her life and draw her new path Nude photography came across first, she did a lot of nude portraits at her. The editing part of the photos was one of her favorite moment and she started to play around the original photographs by adding elements and painting to create a complete different story. Recently she has introduced fiber, bamboo, ropes in her work with a constant meticulously surgical approach with always some mind-bending perception intention behind.

chaussette b.
